Funeral services for Lesse Ward Heskett, 96, of Crescent will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday September 2, 2003 at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Crescent with Rev. Denis Hanrahan officiating. Burial will follow in Crescent Cemetery in Crescent under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent.
Lesse was the Watermelon King for the whole country. He was a champion amateur Bowler. Won numerous awards as Farmer of the Year for Logan County. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Anne Heskett of Stillwater; four sons, Delvin Heskett of Crescent, Delbert Heskett of Tulsa, Danny Heskett of Crescent, Jim Heskett of Perkins; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives; four brothers and 6 sisters.
