DEATH OF WILLIS HEWES
Willis Hewes, honorable citizen and member of the '89ers organization of Guthrie passed beyond Wednesday shortly after 7 p.m., at his home, 418 East Vilas, this city. Mr. Hewes had been suffering from an incurable ailment for two years. He leaves a wife and six children; all were present when the end came. Those of the family present were Mrs. Hewes, Perry, Ernest, Leslie, Alta, Bertha and Neva Hewes.
Willis Hewes was 58 years old when death claimed him. He was born on a farm in DeColb County, Indiana in 1856, and had followed farming and stock raising all of his life. He came to Logan county in 1889 and took a homestead 6 miles northeast of Guthrie, where he lived until last year, when he became helpless and moved into one of his properties in Guthrie.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the United Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Geo. O. Nichols, Burial will be made in Summit View cemetery.
