William "Bill" Hurst, Sr.
Mar. 21, 1925 - Feb. 28. 2006
Funeral services for William "Bill" Bernard Hurst, Sr., age 80, of Guthrie will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2006 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Duane Berg of Perferred Hospice of Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie directed by Smith-Gallo Funeral Home of Guthrie.
Bill was born on March 21, 1925 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Jay Edward and Edna Mac (Handt) Hurst. He died February 28, 2006 at his home in Guthrie.
Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday 12 Noon to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A celebration of the life of William "Bill" Hurst, Sr., who died peacefully on February 28, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness at the age of 80 will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2006 at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie, OK. with Chaplain Duane Berg presiding.
Bill was born March 21, 1925 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to parents Jay and Edna Hurst. He is survived by his living wife Velma, two children and their spouses, Bill and Kay Hurst, Stillwater, OK., and Kathie Kimbro and Chris Williams, Edmond. Six grandchildren, Starla, Dallas, Elisha, Kristin, Angel and Kenny, and five great grandchildren: Kristofor, Bethany, Bryce, Arynn and Taylor. Also, three step-children and their spouses: Donald and Tiffany Sexton, Oklahoma City, Kathy and Joe Clark, Oklahoma City and Sandie and Ray Sherrill, Mustang. Seven step-grandchildren; Cerrie and husband Tim, DJ, Dillon, Candice, Drake, Brian and wife Heather and Sandra and two step-great grandchildren, Angel and Breanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Dorothy Hurst. His first wife of 37 years, Dottie Hurst, one infant sister, Viola, one brother Ray and one granddaughter Melissa.
Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Navy as a Machinist Mate on the U. S. S. Weber during World War II. He loved regaling his family and frends with stories of his tour of duty in Japan and the Philippine Islands. After his military duty he was emoployed by the Santa Fe Railroad as a depot agent for 37 years. Following his retirement in 1970 he enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cards with his loving friends and family.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 2, until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 3 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
