After a few months of suffering he passed quietly into the rest that remaineth for the people of God, April 25, 1897; aged 67 yrs. 1 mo. and 8 days. He organized a class in the vicinity of his home and as their pastor, preached for them steadily as long as his health permitted. He died in the faith and in the assured hope of a glorious immortality.
The funeral services were held in the Fairview school house, Prof. D.A. Holmes led in a service of song and prayer. After the rendering of appropriate hymns and the reading of the 15 chap. Of 1st. Cor., Rev. John H. Aughey preached from the text found in Zechariah 1st chap. 5th verse, "Your fathers, where are they; and the prophets, do they live forever? " He was buried in the Orlando Cemetery. The bereaved widow and children and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of all their friends in their bereavement.
