Graveside services are pending for Hazel T. Lovelace, 84, formerly of Marshall, with Watson Funeral Home in Pratt, Kan.
Lovelace was born Feb. 5, 1918 in Granbury, Texas. She died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at the Robert J. Dole Veteran's Hospital in Wichita, Kan.
Hazel was employed as a telephone operator in Marshall before enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was stationed as a private first-class at Camp Beale, Calif. She was later employed and retired early from Tinker Field in Oklahoma City. A longtime resident of Marshall, she also was a long-term caretaker for her mother, as well as serving as a part-time volunteer to the nursing home in Crescent. She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge and the First Christian Church in Marshall. She moved to Pratt, Kan. in June 2000, where she attended the First Southern Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Trenholm Davis, and her stepfather and mother, J. O. and Ruby McGee.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Barbara Davis of Pratt, Kan.; two sisters, Ellen "Gene" Slover of Minco and Billie Jean and husband G. L. "Pete" Musgrove of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the First Southern Baptist Church building fund, 193 NE Highway 611, PRatt KS 67124.
