Services are pending with Community Funeral Home in Guthrie for Nellie Leaverton, 94, of Guthrie. Leaverton died April 15, 2003 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie.

Funeral services for Nellie Mae Leaverton, 94, of Guhrie will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at Community Funeral Home in Guthrie with the Rev. Bill Monden officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater at 3:30 p.m.

Leaverton was born Feb. 9, 1909 in Stillwater to Frank and Lucy (Martin) Coley. She died April 15, 2003 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie.

She attended school in Stillwater and moved with her family to Tulsa in 1942. She later returned to Stillwater for a few years and in 1961 moved to Pryor. She remained there until 1997, when she moved to Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie.

She was a Methodist and a member of Alverson Chapter No. 410 of Oklahoma Eastern Star. She was very active in Eastern Star and received her 50-year pin in 1998. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, sewing, crocheting, fishing and camping.

She was a beautician for 10 to 12 years and later worked with the election board in Pryor for approximately 20 years.

Nellie really enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by her family and all who knew her.

She married Dale Jay Leaverton on June 6, 1928 in Chandler. He preceded her in death March 17, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sons, Erwin Dale and wife Joan of Edmond, LeRoy Max and wife Helen of Donna, Texas and Ronald Coley Leaverton and wife Carolyn of Broken Arrow; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Viewing will take place Thursday from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
