Virgil Eugene Lowrie, 77, of Orlando, was born Jan. 29, 1927, to Bessie (Bland) and Ira Mont Lowrie in Mulhall. He passed away peacefully in his home Feb. 20, 2004.

Virgil was a farmer. He married Lorene Ruck, Oct. 5, 1953. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Orlando.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene, his mother, father, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include: daughter Joyce and husband Mike Layman, Newalla; son Fred and wife Christi, Mulhall, four sisters: Betty Kindschi, Stillwater, Maxine Yost, Guthrie, Thelma Rutherford, Oklahoma City, and Lois Sparks, Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held today at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Orlando, with Adrian Pollard officiating. Burial followed at Zion Cemetery in Orlando under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
