Graveside services for Baxel Dale McCoy, 70, formerly of Guthrie, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Summit View Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Eslinger officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
McCoy was born March 2, 1932 in Branchland, W.Va. to Jasper Nutton and Anna Virginia (Adkins) McCoy. He died May 3, 2002 at Rosewood Care Center in Perry.
Dale was drafted into the U. S. Army at the age of 19. After receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal, he was discharged in 1961. He then continued to serve in the U. S. Army Reserves. He worked for Scrutchfield Motors and Vick Woods Automotive in Guthrie before moving to Stillwater in 1961. He owned and operated McCoy's Service Station west of Stillwater for two years. He later opened Dale's Auto and Repair, operating it from 1968 to 1978.
Dale loved both trading and working on cars. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. His greatest love was his granddaughter Taylin.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Terry McCoy and wife Nancy of Stillwater and one granddaughter, Taylin Marie McCoy.
