OBITUARY

Edwin W. Mattocks, son of W.M. and Julia A. Mattocks, died at the home of his grandparents near Mulhall on October 6, 1898, aged 17 months and 11 days. His remains were buried in the Mulhall cemetery.

How short, dear Eddie, was they stay,
How soon Death called thy bright spirit away
How soon hath the tie thy innocence wove,
Been broken on earth, to be united above.

Yes, our darling is dead. We will try to wear,
The yoke our God has given us to bear;
While Eddie is waiting in his heavely home,
Waiting for father and mother to come.
