Frances B. Mitchell, daughter of Cassius N. and Thankful Phelps, born May 28, 1831, in South Hero, Vermont, married to J.H. Mitchell, April 22, 1875, in Baltimore, Maryland, and departed this life September 26, 1899, aged 68 years, 4 months, and 28 days. She was converted in the Caroline M.E. church, Baltimore, January 1876. She often testified to full salvation through faith in the blood of Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit. She was an affectionate, faithful and devoted wife, a kind neighbor and a consistent Christian. Her religion sustained in her last hours, was conscious almost to the last, and she said she was going home to be with her God. At the time of her death she was a member of the Mulhall M.E. church. The rain and storm prevented the funeral services being held in the church. They were conducted at the home by Rev. W.E. Jones. The remains were laid to rest in the Mulhall cemetery to wait the resurrection morn. As surely as spring follows winter and day succeeds night, so surely shall spring visit the mouldering urn and day dawn on the night of the grave, the apostle assures us that this corruptible must put on incorporation and this mortal must put on immortality. Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Thanks be to God who giveth us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
