After a lingering illness of several months, Mr. Louis J. Mizee passed peacefully away at his home in Mulhall at 4 o'clock last Friday evening, surrounded by his faithful wife, other relatives and friends. He has been a sufferer for a long time and the end has long been expected. Last fall the family removed to the old home at Olathe, Kansas, but returned here only a few weeks ago. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.S. Rehorn at the Methodist church, assisted by the choir from Antioch. The funeral was largely attended by friends of the deceased.
Louis J. Mizee was born in Howard Co., Mo., near Roachport, in the year 1825, was a soldier in the Mexican war, and also in the civil war. In the latter war he contracted an illness from which he never recovered, and departed this life May 12, 1899. He was married twice; first to Nancy Randolph, and on September 27, 1852, to Elvira Wilson who now survives him. He was the father of nine children, five of whom survive him and four have crossed the river of death.
