Graveside services for Mary Jo "Jodie" Martin, 78, of Guthrie will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at Summit View Cemetery with Rev. Terry Martindale officiating. The service is under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Guthrie.
Jodie was born February 5, 1926, in Cushing to Irwin David and Orma Leah (Davis) Gray. She died Monday, May 10, 2004 in Crescent.
Jodie retired as an LPN in 1985 and lived most of her life here in Guthrie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Guthrie. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Jodie was the De Facto Chair of the Reunion Committee of GHS class of 1943, in which was a large part of her life. She was an avid collector of teddy bears and was a garae sale aficionado.
She married Frank Martin on July 24, 1945 in Norman. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Utterback and husband Greg of Albuquerque, NM and Beverly Kelly of Crescent; also five grandchildren Justin, Michelle, Liberty, Bridget and Kevin; and two great-grandchildren Jacob and Leigh Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends and relatives may call at Davis Funeral Home Wednesday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Thursday, May 13, from 8:30-10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Operation Care, Logan County Christmas Store c/o Action Inc. at 204 E. Oklahoma, Guthrie, OK 73044.
