Rice Seely McCubbin died at the home of his son, C. F. McCubbin, January 28 after a short illness. He was born in Kentucky, April 28, 1825. He was 90 years, o months old. He was a soldier of the Mexican war and after the war he put up one of the first dry goods stores in Atchison, Kansas. Later he was sheriff of Atchison County and held several other offices in Kansas. He moved to Oklahoma in 1891 and settled on a farm 4 miles north of Guthrie. He was married twice and was the father of 18 children. Both wives and 10 children have preceded him to their Heavenly Home. He leaves 8 children: Mr. C. F. McCubbin and William McCubbin of Guthrie, Mrs. John Rinehart of Luther, Mrs. John Weber of Drumright, Mrs. Nona Florence and Mr. T. Tryon of Sacramento, Calif., D. McCubbin of Atchison, Kansas, besides several grandchildren and a host of friends.
