Graveside services for George John Neitman, Sr., 94, of Perkins, will be Friday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at Olivet Cemetery, Perkins, Rev. Charles Wall officiating, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. The Flag Presentation will be by Perkins VFW Post # 7322.

George was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Goodnight to William and Augusta (Wolf) Neitman. He married Jewel Porter on Sept. 29, 1956, in Ft. Smith, Ark. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1987. George died April 19, 2004, at Renaissance in Stillwater.

George was drafted into the Army Engineers in January 1942 and later transferred into the O. S. S. He drove a jeep for Gen. George Patton. He was Honorably Discharged in December 1945. George returned home and worked as a mechanic. After marrying Jewel, the couple moved to Guthrie where he worked for Oklahoma Furniture and Manufacturing Company. After his retirement, he started Neitman Lawn Care and Landscaping. He and his son George worked in the lawn care industry until 1982. After the death of his wife, George Sr. moved back to Perkins. He farmed and raised cattle and horses. He enjoyed spending his time working on antique and classic vehicles.

George was a member of First Christian Church of Perkins. He was also a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife and nine siblings.

George is survived by a son: Terry Geroge John Neitman and his wife Phyllis of Perkins; four grandchildren: Terry "Jr." Neitman of Perkins, Dewayne Abbott of Sapulpa, Edward Abbott of Cushing and Paul Walton of Orlando; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters; Rosa Mahar of Perkins and Josephine Williams of Perkins.
