Bud Neal
October 10, 1928 - January 12, 2006
Bud (Marion Alfred) Neal of Guthrie, Oklahoma died at 10 a.m. on January 12, 2006 in his rural home near Meridian, Oklahoma of natural causes. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was 76 years old.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma with interment at Carney Cemetery in Carney, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Community Funeral Home in Guthrie. Paul Bearers will be Bud's 9 grandsons.
Bud Neal was born on October 10, 1928 in Riger, Missouri to William and Mildred Neal, both now deceased. He worked over the years as a horse trainer, truck driver, heavy equipment operator, finish carpenter, cabinet maker and builder. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in the Pacific during and after World War II. He was recipient of the "Million Mile" award for logging as a professional driver over 1 million road miles, accident free. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Bud was married on November 18, 1949 to Delores (Lewis) Neal in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 daughters-in-law and 3 sons-in-law. His children are Julie Neal, who died in 1979, Richard Neal of Washington, D.C., Marion Kay Hayes of Sadler, Texas, Patty Green of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Sandy Dill of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Churck Neal of Lignum, Virginia. His 9 grandsons and 5 granddaughters are Eric Neal, Lee Hayes, Jennifer White, Carrie Thornhill, Joe Hayes, Melissa Bagwell, Matthew Green, Lucas Green, Jacob Green, Jessica Witcher, Amy Gwartney, Christopher Dill, Charles Neal and Bud Neal. His 8 great grandchildren are Erica Neal, Natalee Hayes, Chandler White, Caleb White, ALexa White, Lily Ann Bagwell, Christopher Neal and Haley Neal.
Bud will be long remembered by his friends and family as a devoted and loving husband and father, a kind and steadfast friend, and an elegant and dignified gentleman.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
