William "Bill" Paul Nelson, 63 passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at his home in Arlington.

Bill was born July 30, 1942 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He graduated from Benedictine Heights in 1960 and Southeastern Oklahoma State in 1964. Bill grew up working in the family business, Nelson Sporting Goods, in Guthrie, and moved to Arlington, Texas with his family in 1972. In 1980 Bill started his own business, Bill Nelson & Company.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Nelson; brother, John Nelson; sister Ginger Scheihing.

Survivors: Wife of 40 years, Liz Nelson; son, Kenton Nelson and wife Monica of Mansfield; daughter, Teri Nelson of Arlington; mother, Zelma Nelson of Guthrie, OK, sisters, Nancy Parker and husband Norman of Norman, OK, Sandra Burtcher and husband Chuck of Guthrie, OK; one brother, Joe and wife Jenny of Stillwater, OK, mother in law, Virgie Montague of Arlington; brothers in law, Robert Montague and wife Suzanne of Arlington and Neil Scheihing of Guthrie, OK.

Grandchildren: Kyle and Cody Nelson of Mansfield and Collin and Courtney Garcia of Arlington.

Nephew: Mark Montague of Arlington, Brian Evans and wife Amanda of Alexandria VA, Travis Hopfer and wife Deborah of Oklahoma City, OK, Kenneth Parker and wife Brigitte of Norman, OK, Christopher Nelson of Stillwater, OK, Bradley Burtcher of Oklahoma City, OK, Scott Burtcher of Guthrie, OK, Joe Neil Scheihing and wife Karen of Guthrie, OK and Derek Scheihing and wife Heather of Perry, OK.

Nieces: Julie Evans of Frisco, Amy Bryant and husband Jeff of Stillwater, OK, Julie Wilson and husband Greg of Carollton, Cydnee Black and husband Randy of Guthrie, OK, Andrea Mays and husband Todd of Guthrie, OK and Karen Metcalf of Enid, OK.

Grand-nephews: Austin Hopfer of Oklahoma City, OK, Zachary Bryant of Stillwater, OK, Nathaniel Wilson of Carrollton, Kevin Parker of Norman, OK, Craig Newman of Enid OK, Jonathon Metcalf of Enid OK and Tucker Scheihing of Guthrie, OK.

Grand-nieces: Allison Hopfer of Oklahoma City OK, Kayla and Brooke Black of Guthrie OK, Magie Bryant of Stillwater OK, Sandra Cole and husband Zachary of Lincoln AR, Jennifer Parker of Norman OK and Timber Scheihing of Guthrie, OK.

Bill had many friends and loyal customers he treasured.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington with Father Tom Craig and Father Steve Austin.
