Woodward, Jan. 28-The body of George D. Orner, former register of the land office in this city, was buried here Tuesday. Mr. Orner prominent in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. He served through the civil war, later practiced law and afterward held prominent governmental positions in this state, Missouri and Kansas. He had resided in this section since before the opening of the Cherokee Strip. He served two terms in the Kansas legislature and in the Oklahoma territorial senate. He served as United States collector, post office inspector and special land office agent. A widow and one brother survive him.
