One of the most honored ministers and citizens, in the person of Rev. John Fletcher Palmer passed peacefully to his reward, at his home on West Male Street last Friday night at 12:10 o'clock. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for fifty nine years, and an able and efficient minister for forty seven years, during which time he served the church as pastor and presiding elder in Indiana, Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas and Ocala. Nine years ago he retired, on account of ailing health and located in Springdale. He leaves to mourn his loss, three daughters, one son, with their mother and grandchildren of the immediate family. The son, W. F. Palmer of Paris, Texas, Mrs. Geo. H. Bennett and Mrs. Chas. O. Chambers, the daughters also of Paris and Mrs. Cyrus A. Lee of Bartlesville, Okla. They with their husbands and children attended the funeral, also one brother Mason R. Palmer, of Washington, Ind. He has another aged brother in Washington, Ind., who was not able to make the trip.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday at eleven o'clock at the M. E. Church, by pastor Geo. W. Green. The local camp, G. A. R. acted as pallbearers, and a comrade, Mr. C. W. Pool, spoke at the services in honor of the deceased, and the body was laid to rest under the Stars and Stripes, with the Beautiful G. A. R. ceremony in Bluff Cemetery.
