Funeral arrangements for Betty Ann (Fannell) Ranson, 81, of Lafayette, La., formerly of Guthrie, were under the direction of Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette, La.
Ransonw as born July 8, 19212 in Chicago to Thomas and Martha Fannell. She died March 14, 2003 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, La.
She moved with her family to Guthrie, where she attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1939 from Guthrie High School. She attended Oklahoma State University.
In 1948, she married Dr. Robert F. Ranson in Oklahoma City. They subsequently moved to New Orleans, San Antonio and Puerto Rico before moving to Lafayette in 1954, where Dr. Ranson practiced pathology.
She worked for a few years as a medical secretary at Wesley Hospital in Oklahoma City. In Lafayette, she was active in the medical auxiliary. She was an accomplished musician and for several years played the organ for the Medical Auxiliary Style Show.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Robert F. Ranson of Lafayette; two sons, Tommy Ranson and David Ranson and wife Louise, all of Lafayette; and one brother, Louis Fannell and wife Hazel of Oklahoma City.
