Funeral serices for Edgar James Ray, 92, of Guthrie were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Woodlands Christian Church in Ponca City. Interment and graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. at the Rosedale Cemetery in Ada under the direction of Hills-Ely Funeral Home of Medford.
Ray was born July 10, 1910 on a farm three miles north of Ada to George Dabney and Martha Jane (Berryman) Ray. He died Saturday afternoon, April 12, 2003 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie.
He was a longtime resident of Ponca City and owned and operated Ray's Electric in Newkirk until he retired in 1975. He had been a residnet of Golden Age Nursing Home since January 2003.
Survivos include one daughter, Velma Colleen (Ray) Case and husband Robert Alan Case of Ponca City; five grandchildren, including Cathy Jean and her husband Dr. Dennis Eugene Clark of Guthrie and James Virgil Case and his wife Deanna Dee Case and his wife Deanna Dee Case of Guthrie; 10 great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a host of friends to mourn his passing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund for Woodlands Christian Church of Ponca City.
