Funeral services for Vern S. Richards, 81, lifetime resident of Crescent, Okla., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Crescent with Rev. Gerald Biswell officiating. Interment will be in Crescent Cemetery, Crescent, under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent.

Vern was born June 19, 1919 at Crescent to John R. Richards and Lillie Stoolfire Richards. He died Feb. 14, 2001 in Oklahoma City.

He was an oil field worker and had worked for Easton Oil Company until retirement.

He married Della Mae Rhoads in 1947 at Crescent. She preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Don Richards of Oklahoma City and Roaine Richards of Crescent; one daughter, Jimalou Schwandt of Enid; five grandchildren, Lance, Kevin and Annie Schwandt, Tara Tarrant and Erin Richards and one great-grandchild, Haylee Schwandt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Dwayne and Doyle Richards.

Pallbearers will be Larry Horn, Bo Wilson, Dennis Bilyeu, Jerry Linson, Lance Schwandt, Kevin Schwandt and Justin Tarrant.
