Funeral services for Walter L. "Joe" Rieker, 73, of Guthrie were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2003 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond. Services were under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.
Rieker was born Oct. 6, 1929 in Oklahoma City to William Leonard and Cleo Rieker. He died Feb. 13, 2003 in Guthrie.
Joe served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a pumper for Harper Oil, retiring after 10 years. He ran Gibble Gas in Edmond for 20 years. He was also an Edmond city councilman in 1961. He loved to travel, but his hobby was his work.
He married his Norma Lynn on Sept. 1, 1950 in Van Buren, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony L. and Lorie Rieker of Guthrie; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pamela and Bob Allbaugh of Chandler and Sandy Henson of Guthrie; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harold and Jerri Rieker of Guthrie and Richard Rieker of Pennsylvania; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jerri Rieker, and five grandchildren, James Smith, T. J. Rieker, Danielle Henson, Destiney Rieker and Brittany Rieker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odyssey Hospice, 2212 NW 50th, Suite 246C, Oklahoma CIty OK 73112.
