Anna Snuffer was born in eastern Tenn., Aug. 18, 1847; died at her home near Standard, Oklahoma, Feb. 16, 1903. She was married to David Sharp Feb. 16, 1868. To this union were born seven children all of which were at her beside in her sickness. The children are Mrs. Dora McCarp, Mrs. Mollie Constant, Mrs. Minnie Ford, Lola Sharp, Ernest Sharp, Charles Sharp and Alfred Sharp. She was converted soon after marriage and joined the United Brethren church; later on, she joined the Missionary Baptist church and remained a devoted member until death called her home to that beautiful rest. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered at the family home, Feb. 18, at 10 o'clock, from which they then marched to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, of which, she was a member. The funeral was conducted by Elder J.W. Rowland of Hennessey, pastor. He used, as a scripture lesson, 1 Cor. 15 chapter; for a test, Eccl. 8:8. She was sick four weeks, taking sick with pneumonia fever which ended in paralysis of the heart. Every thing was done in the way of medical aid. She was always at her master's will and lived for her family. Her two favorite songs, "Amazing Grace" and "There is a Fountain Filled with Blood" were sung at the funeral. She set a kind motherly christian example to her dear family. Her daily walk was an index to them to follow. She loved her bible and read it much, trying ever to fashion her life according to its teachings. Her time had come to go home and return no more, leaving her husband and children and the church she loved so much to mourn because a good kind mother and sister had gone. But we mourn not as those who have no hope for we feel that the Lord, who is ever kind, has taken her home to rest. He says in his promise, "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
