Funeral services for Bobby Dell Sykes, 56, of Guthrie, will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17 with Rev. Bob Walker of Cathedral of the Hills Assembly of God, Edmond, officiating.
Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Bobby was born Sept. 11, 1947, in Guthrie to Dell and Jewell Sykes. He died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his residence in Guthrie.
Bobby was employed by the Guthrie Public Schools as Director of Maintenance and had formerly been employed by Challenger Drilling. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on vehicles. Also, he greatly enjoyed being outside and at the lake, and fishing, as well as cooking. Bobby dearly loved his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda of the home; his mother Jewell Sykes Payne, Guthrie; two sons, Bobby D. Sykes, Jr. and his wife Andrea, and Johnnie Sykes, and one daughter, Shannon Rodgers and her husband, Billy all of Guthrie; two brothers: Clint Dixon, Sr., and his wife Janet, and Earl Sykes and his wife Beverly, all of Guthrie; a sister, Ann Boman, Guthrie; six grand-children; nephews Clint Dixon, Jr., of Choctaw, Terry Moore and Kyle Sykes of Guthrie, and nieces Amy Ingle and Jillian Sykes of Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Jewelletta (Punkin) Sykes Huddleston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bobby Sykes Memorial Fund at the Local Oklahoma Bank, Guthrie.
Visitation will be held Friday until 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
