Ernest LeRoy Schlenz was born in early spring of 1919 in Bell Plains Saskatchewan, Canada. Ernest went to be with the Lord March 11, 2001. Awaiting his arrival were his mother, father, brother Paul and a legion of family and loyal friends. He is survived by his wife, Cora, sister Esther, brothers Walt and John, one daughter, two sons and two step-sons.
During his life he became an all around rodeo champion in the Turtle Association, and an expert horse trainer working with both polo ponies and racing stock. He was one of America's silent and unsung Naval heroes of World War II. He worked as a teamster for almost 50 years in livestock transportation and was an all around hard working American. He leaves his family to live in the glow of his large, generous and loving heart. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla., under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home of Guthrie, Okla.
There will be no visitation at any time.
