On March 15, 1898, after a long period of sickness and suffering, little Ethel, aged five yrs. and six months; eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Schultz, passed away, fell asleep in Jesus' arms. How comforting the thought, that though she has left us, we know:
She is not lost but gone before,
She is beckoning to us from that far off shore.
Where there is no more sorrow, no more pain and where all tears are wiped away;
And when we think of her, who in her youthful beauty died;
The fair, sweet blossom, that grew and faded by our aide;
In the cold moist earth we laid her, with this forest just in lef,
We wept, that one so lovely should have a life so brief.
But we know that our loss is indeed her gain:
The funeral services were held at the house by Rev. G.W. Landis, after which she was laid to rest in the Dunkard cemetery by the church, wither she was followed by a large number of loving friends and neighbors.
Sleep on, little Ethel, and when time shall be no more,
We will come to you, on that beautiful shore,
For unto us the promise is given,
The faithful shall dwell with Him in Heaven.
