Funeral services for Helen Laverne Spaulding, 80, of Mulhall, Okla., were held at Smith Memorial Chapel Monday, March 12, 2001 at 1 p.m. Rev. Troy Withey of Freedom Baptist Church of Stillwater, Okla., officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Mulhall, directed by Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie.

Helen was born on March 31, 1920 in Bramer, Mo. to Sanborn and Ethel O'Dell. She died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Logan Hospital and Medical Center in Guthrie.

She married Jesse Spaulding on August 31, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October 12, 1984. She married Walter Towle on October 20, 1994 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1997.

She is survived by one son, Jesse Spaulding and Mary of Mulhall; two daughters, Helen Marie Byer and Bill Sr. of Mulhall, and Jean Clark and John of Guthrie; three brothers, Orville O'Dell, Melvin O'Dell and Charles O'Dell, all of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Fern Jones of Guthrie and Edna Butler of Mulhall; seven grandchildren, Mike Byer, Bill Byer, Jr., Terri Hammond, Jeff Clark, James Clark, J.D. Spaulding, Rebekah Cunningham; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one son, Jerry Lee Spaulding.
