Funeral services for Jewel P. Simpson, 84, of Crescent, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001 at Abernathy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred King officiating. Burial will be in Oakland-Knowles Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent.
Jewel was born May 3, 1916 in Plumfield, Ill. to Tell and Cora Trigg Simpson. He died Jan. 10, 2001 at Crescent.
He was a farmer and a member of the Crescent VFW and Crescent American Legion. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Jewel and Maxine "Pat" Slusher were married Oct. 12, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She preceded him in death Sept. 12, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Bill Simpson of Crescent; three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Simpson; one son, Brian Simpson; and his wife Maxine "Pat" Simpson.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Tarrant, Loy Tontz, Tom Williams, Donnie Elmore, Jim Krittenbrink and Eric Baze.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Russell Murray Hospice in El Reno, Okla., or to the charity of your choice.
