DEATH OF AN HONORED LONG TIME CITIZEN
Death visited another home Saturday afternoon and took away an honorable, well-known citizen. Watson E. Sheriff came to Guthrie in 1892 and departed this life March 6, 1915. He was born in Lancashire, England August 30, 1839 and came to American when but 11 yeas of age. He served with the federal army during the war of 1860-5 in the 7th New York cavalry. His wife, Mary Sheriff, one son, W. D. Sheriff, both of whom live in Guthrie, on daughter Mrs. Minnie Martee, California, Mo, survives him.
The funeral will take place at the residence 523 East Oklahoma Avenue, Guthrie Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be under the auspices of the Grand Army of the Republic. All friends are invited.
