Charles Sidney Thompson, was born on April 19, 1918 in Rosedale, Oklahoma. He was the son of Robert Lee Thompson and Bessie Nora Thompson. He grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma with brothers Woodrow, Lee, Claudie and Kenneth and sisters LaVeta and June. Charles (Charlie) was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was a member of the Army and fought in the South Pacific. When the war was over he returned home to work for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He retired after 35 years of service. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge. he was very proud of his Native American heritage and to be on the Chickasaw Indian Rolls. His many loves included horses, cattle, football, county music and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Coaley.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (of the home), his daughters Judy Fisher (husband Don), Debbie Shannon (husband Dennis), grandchildren Tammy Fisher, Kari Fisher-Johnston, Tom (T. J.) Rogers and Melissa Rogers. His grandchildren are Meredith, Spencer, Charlie (his namesake) and Ashton. Charlie is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend to many. He will be greatly missed and forever loved!
His funeral will be held on June 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be e-mail to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net
