January 5 1931-A few days ago while fishing just below the dam in Johns Creek, Harold Coshow and Edwin Spears spied a critter that did look like a fish to them. They secured a long pole and managed to land a 30-inch alligator, which they hog-tied and brought to town. It is now in its new home in Coshow's basement.
Several years ago Hank Kelley, who was at that time in Florida, sent a small gator to Ed Stetler. Ed gave the reptile to Harry Hurt who took it to his home in the east part of town and put it in a cave. This was during the wintertime and shortly after Harry got the gator he reported the durned thing had died. It is believed that the gator pulled a "fast one" on Harry to gain his liberty, and when thrown out, he made his escape to the creek which is near by and had taken up residence there.
