Brushy Mountain Cemetery

This is a very historical cemetery as far as Native American history is concerned. Many members of the Harris family are buried here. The Harris family married members of the Cordery and Vickery family and came to Indian Territory on the Trail of Tears, from Forsythe Co. Georgia.
Annie Harris aka Mary Ann McLain is buried here. She was a Cherokee and married 5 times. Lastly to Philo Hall Harris who is also buried here. Colonel Johnson Harris, once Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, made Brushy Mountain Cemetery his final resting place as well.
