Taylor Cemetery

George and Linda Miller have been working to clear and restore this old cemetery. Having cut down about 20 cedar trees George decided to make this cross from one of them. This one is about 11ft by 7ft. He is working on a second one about 20 feet tall.

Taylor Cemetery is one of the most historical in the area. Samuel McDaniel Taylor established a stagecoach stop and inn here. The stagecoach ran from Ft. Gibson to Ft. Smith and several travelers stopped at the inn. Some died here. There are several beautiful stones although many are in need of repair. Samuel Taylor and his wife Juliett are buried here. Elizabeth (Lizzie)McLain, wife of Judge William McLain is resting here. McLain community was named after Judge McLain. Information used here with permission of Gary Lester, Braggs.
