Porum is on the line of the M V R R about 31 miles south of Muskogee and is an incorporated town with a population of about 1000. Porum has a State Bank in good financial standing a weekly newspaper, and two churches, Methodist and Baptist. It has telephone and telegraph connection and is also a regular station of Wells Fargo & Co Express.
