Projects to register the locations of Civil War Veterans buried in Oklahoma are still in progress and the public is requested to volunteer to submit known information. About 1,000 Confererate and 8,000 Union Veterans have been registered to date but is is estimated that more than 25,000 died in Oklahoma. Plans include making the information available to National Historical and Genealogical groups for research. Veteran's headstones can be acquired from the Veteran's Administration by the descendants with the proper documentation. Individuals, cemetery offices and associations, Historical and Genealogical Organizations are requested to send known information concerning the Veteran's and wife's names, cemetery location, headstone condition, descendant's names and addresses, and the Veteran's state and unit served to:

An effort to locate Real Sons and Real Daughters of Confederate Veterans living in Oklahoma is currently in progress. Real sons and real daughters are the actual living children of Confederate Veterans. Most are past 75 years old and fathers were in their early 60's when their children were born. So far, six have been located in Oklahoma and live in Miami, Claremore, Sand Springs, and Oklahoma City.
