FARRIER, Jas. A., Lt. Enlisted in October 1941, and following his commission has been flight instructor at California and Arizona bases, and now stationed at the Kingman base. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrier, Woodward. Member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, practicing in Woodward, where he was active in civic affairs. His wife, the former Verda Land and small son are visiting in Woodward.
FARRIER, Robert, Lt. Enlisted in August, 1942, and after completion of training, was assigned to Midland, Texas, AAF as flying instructor, serving in the same capacity at Liberal, Kas., field and is now at the Lubbock, Texas army air field, where he and his bride, to whom he was married June 15, are at home. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrier, Woodward.
FENTON, Joseph F., W.T. 2/c Grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Chabino, recently returned to the States after three and a half years in the Pacific and Mediterranean theater. He made landings on Guadalcanal in Oct. 1942. Was in Mediterranean when front opened later back to pacific, his last service at Corregidor, before coming back to the States.
FENTON, Leon Wayne, AMM-1/c Entered navy in 1941, soon after his graduation from Woodward highschool and now stationed in Boston, where his wife and two children are living. He is grandson of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Chabino, Woodward, and son of Mrs. W. M. Pugh, Colorado Springs, Colo.
FINLEY, Harlan, Pfc. Son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Finley of Quinlan. Entered the service March 3, 1943, leaving the States in Fepuary for the European theater with the 27th Tank Bn. Graduated Richmond highschool.
FISHER, James L. S. 1/C Enlisted in Jan. 1944, just before he was 18, has completed radio, radar, gunnery, ordanance and navigation and awarded his Airman's wings at Beaufort, S. C., about June 1, 1945 and flew to Woodward for a 15 day leave to visit his mother, Mrs. Ina Dale Fisher, 974 Oklahoma Ave.
FLINT, Byron S. Enlisted October '44. He graduated with honors at Norman NATC in June, and rates S-2-c; majored in aviation mechanics; son of Mrs. Eugene Flint.
FLINT, Frank F., S-1/c Enlisted May '44 at 18 years old. In Marianas nine months. Mother Frances Flint, formerly of Woodward now resides in Canton, Okla. Frank was a popular student and athlete before his induction.
FLYNT, Phillip W., S. 1/C 23-year-old son of Mrs. Frances Flynt, Canton, enlisted Oct. 1943. Stationed on west coast 18 months as swimming instructor, now aboard ship. wife Lois and daughter Carolyn Sue live at Sherman, Texas with relatives.
FOGLESONG, Richard, Sgt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Foglesong, took advanced training at Ypsilanti, Mich.; is now with the 51st Service Group in India, where he has been stationed two of the three years he has been in service. He is a graduate of the Woodward highschool.
FORD, Aouda Marie, T/Sgt. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ford, Mutual. Enlisted January 6, 1943. Graduate of Mutual highschool and Clinton Business College.
FORD, Rex J., Marine Sgt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ford, Mutual, entered service March 2, 1941 and after his base training at San Diego, was assigned to office duty at the base, serving until October 1, 1944, when he was sent to Mare Island to await commissioning of a ship; his crew was organized in January, 1945, and he was assigned to a troop transport as property clerk and office assistant for service in the pacific. He returned to the States the first of July, according to a wire to his parents, from Boston.

GADEN, Julien F. T/Sgt. Serving in the air corps as a turret gunner. Since going recently from Australia, he is now in New Guinea. His wife and baby son live in Enid. Mr. and Mrs. John Gaden of Richmond are his parents.
GADEN, Thomas G., S/Sgt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gaden of Richmond, is serving in the signal corps and now in the Philippines. His wife lives in Blackwell.
GARRIOTT, Harold, Cpl. Enlisted Fepuary 3, 1943. Following six months training overseas to England July 21, 1943. With Army Engineers is now somewhere in Germany with the occupational forces. He is the son of Mrs. Ira Garriott, Seiling, Okla., and in civil life helped in the farm work.
GARRIOTT, William A., Cpl. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Garriott, Seiling, was inducted into service Nov. 24, 1942, and is now serving in the medical corps since going to the European theater early in 1944, and was stationed in France at last reports. His wife, the former Mary Clovis, lives with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Clovis, Mutual.
GARTEN, Harold S., Pfc. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Garten, Woodward, inducted in service in Feb. 21, 1944 while in defense work, now instructor in radio shop at a camp in Gulfport, Miss. Transferring this month from Camp Robins, Ga. His wife is with him in Gulfport.
GARVIE, Glen V., Pfc. Taken prisoner by the Germans December 21, 1944, Pfc. Garvie was liberated April 2, 1945, and arrived at his Mooreland home, May 9, where his wife and two sons live. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Garvie, live at Quinlan.
GASTON, Evan E., Sgt. Only Son of Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Gaston of Sharon, enlisted July 15, 1942 in air corps; is an aerial engineer on B-24's and B-32's, and now stationed at the Fort Worth, Texas, AAF. He is a graduate of Sharon highschool. His wife, the former Naomi Sawyer is living in Fort Worth.
GASTON, Hubert E., E1-M. 3/C 19 years old, entered service, Feb. 5, 1944 and was trained at San Diego, Calif., and Seattle, Wash. Now assigned to a cargo ship in the pacific. At home he was employed at Woodward Hatchery. Son of Mrs. Goldie Gaston of Woodward.
GASTON, Lacey M., Pfc. 21 year old, stationed in London, England with the Engr. M. p.s. Has been overseas 21 months. Worked for F. C. Stark Oil Co. He married an English girl last October. Son of Mrs. Goldie Gaston, Woodward
GASTON, Marcus, Pvt. 23 year old son of Mrs. Goldie Gaston, 2015 Main, Woodward; was inducted May 29 and now in training at Camp Ellis, Ill. employed in ship building yards at Long Beach, Calif., several months -- returned 2 months ago for induction.
GEISMAR, Alan, Ens. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Geismar, enlisted Fepuary 1, 1944. Following boot training at San Diego, took advanced courses in New York City, Washington D. C., and Jacksonville, Fla. Now a technician with Aviation Ordnance, Minneapolis. His wife, Vera and daughter Linda Kay reside with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lane. In civil life, was bank clerk at Bank of Woodward.
GIFFORD, Ernest, Pfc. Son of Mrs. Sarah Gifford, Woodward, was with the Normandy invasion and is now in Germany. Btry. B. 226th AAA. Farming at Curtis when he went into service June 10, 1942.
GIFT, Eldon R., AMM 2/C Enlisted Jan 24, 1943, left the States Dec 7, 1943, and since stationed on Guam in the Pacific, as aviation mechanic's mate. He is 20 years of age and the youngest son of H. R. Gifts, Mutual.
GIFTS, Elswick, AMM 1/C Second son of H. R. Gifts, enlisted, Oct. 23, 1942; after 14 months land service in the Southwest Pacific, returned to States, August 1944; wears four Bronze Stars and combat air crew wings. Graduated June 18, 1945 in instruments from NATTC, Chicago.
GIFTS, Wm. J., Sgt. 24 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Gift, Seiling, is an air corps mechanic, enlisting Dec. 29, 1942, sent to Mediterranean in July, 1943, serving in Italy, Sicily and Egypt for nearly two years, before transferred to China-Burma-India theater, Feb. 1944; coming home in March 1945 and after 30 day furlough is at Murdoc, Calif., AAF. Has six Bronze Stars, Presidential Unit Citation.
GILL, James, F/O Son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gill, enlisted in air corps in Dec., 1942 as ground crewman, and later transferred for cadet training; in March 1943 received his commission as flight officer at the LaJunta, Colorado, AAf, and is now in a pilots pool at the Lincoln, Neb., air base.
GLASGOW, Clyde M., Sgt. Giving "shakedown" inspection to one of the bombers at the 15th Air Force headquarters in Italy, where he served 21 months. Sgt. Glasgow, son of Mrs. Guy Ortiz of Woodward, returned to the States, May 27, 1945, and concluded a 30-day furlough and reported June 30, to Camp Chaffee, Ark., before going to Spokane, Wash., for a rest and reassignment. His wife, the former Pinkey Riley and their daughter , Judy, live at 1421 8th street.
GLENNIE, Edward, Pvt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Glennie, south of Curtis. They have six sons in this man's army, one was recently discharged but Dewey, went into the Navy last week. The Glennies are hard working farmers near Cedardale and do all their marketing in Woodward. We were unable to get betters data about these four sons as Glennie is in harvest. Elsewhere in this issue their other son is represented.

GLENNIE, Wilber H. Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Glennie, of Curtis, entered the air forces July 1942. A technician with the ground crew, Glennie has seen much service in the European areas. He has five brothers in the service, except one, home recently with an honorable discharge.
GOBLE, Ray, Pvt. 20 years old, enlisted March 20, 1944 and overseas since January. Served with First and Third armies in Germany, Co., C, 9th Reg. 2nd Div. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Goble, Woodward. Wife, Imogene, employed at SW. Bell Telephone.
GONSER, Clifford G., S. 1/C Inducted into service Nov. 27, 1943, and following boot training at San Diego and Holtville, Calif., is now stationed at Therman, Calif. He is 20, and lived with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dauphin of Quinlan
GOODE, Robert E., Sgt. Now in Germany, inducted Nov. 24, '42, his wife, Mrs. Goldie Goode and mother, Mrs. Clema Goode reside at 1722 Main Street. When last heard from "Bob" was getting along satisfactorily.
GRICE, Lowell, Cpl. entered the service in Oct. '43, trained at the quartermaster School Camp Lee. His wife and two children reside at 1013 Oak st. Woodward, He was a Ranney-Davis Mer. Salesman when he went into the service.
GRIFFITH, Harlan S., S1/C In service since Feb. 4, 1944, had boot and radio training at San diego, and after a six weeks course in a mine sweeper school, was sent to the pacific; was in invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Griffith of Mutual.
GROCE, Harold J., Pfc. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Groce, Woodward, inducted into service March 16, 1942; sent to Camp Barkeley, Texas, as baker; sent overseas in 1944, was in the Normandy invasion, went through France and Germany with 90th Div. of Patton's 3rd Army.
GROCE, Leonard, Cpl. Only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Groce, Woodward, spent 28 months in anti-aircraft in Samoa, Wallis, Gilbert Islands, enlisted January 11, 1942. Since returning from the pacific, he is training in film library, Camp Lejuene, N. C.
GRUNEWALD, Dale H., A1/C 20 year old of Mr. and Mrs. John Grunewald, Mutual, entered service, Dec 1943, trained at San Diego, Calif., assigned to his ship and sent to pacific, was in invasion of Guam and Okinawa. Graduated from Mutual highschool and attended Oklahoma City University.
GUTHRIE, Wilber D., ARM 3/C Son of Ivens Guthrie, Mutual. Enlisted Mar. 30, 1944; boot training at San Diego; radar at Memphis, Tenn., and gunnery at Miami, Fla; now stationed Sanford, ME., for six months advanced training. He was a farmer.

HALL, Ralph W., Pfc. 20 year old son of Mrs. Edna Hotz of Mooreland, enlisted in the Marines in Jan. 1944 while employed as a welder in the shipyards at Richmond, Calif. After his basic training at San Diego, was transferred to amphibious group and sent to South Pacific in October, 1944, serving as tank operator in the 3rd Amphibious Corps, on Okinawa since invasion.
HAM, Billie Lee, S. 2/c At the age of 17 enlisted in the Navy, had his boot training at San Diego; ordanance at the Norman naval air center, gunnery at Greencave, Fla., assigned to a carrier and sent to the Pacific war zone Jan. 1, 1945. His carrier is now in port, and he expects to come home in July.
Ham, Gerald L., Cpl. Cpl. Gerald L. Ham 24-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ham, 1224 Oklahoma, is serving in the Philippines with the signal battalion, following work in Australia, New Guinea, and Netherlands. Enlisted in 1940 and served nearly two years with the 45th. His wife and their 31-month old son Gary live with her mother, Mrs. R. F. McNeil, here.
HARPER, Frank J., S/Sgt. Son of Mrs. Minnie Harper, Mutual. Entered the service in April 1942. Stationed at Camp Livingston, La., with the 127th Battalion, 32nd Regt. His wife is with him.
HAWKINS, Delson E., Pfc. 27-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Hawkins of Quinlan, was inducted into the army, January 4, 1943, following his training served as a military police in Oklahoma City until July 17, 1944 when he transferred to the 1299the Engineer combat battalion, Camp Bowie, Texas, where is is now stationed. His wife lives at Brownwood.
HAWKINS, Lyle Wayne, S2/C Eighteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Hawkins, Quinlan, went into the Navy December 14, 1944 and is now stationed at Shoemaker, Calif.
HAWKINS, Oran L., GM 3/C Was inducted into the Navy, May 12, 1943 and trained until January 1, 1944 when he was sent to Treasure Island, where he was stationed until December 1, of that year when he was sent to the Pacific, and is now serving in that combat area. He is the 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Hawkins, Quinlan.
HEDGES, Brian C. Pfc. Enlisted and entered the service September 14, 1942. As a member of ground crew, air corps, he was sent overseas in December, 1943, and stationed in England until March, 1945, then moved to France as part of troop carrier squadron. Now at Trinidad. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hedges, Vici.
HENSLEY, M. M., 2/C M. P. Hensley, M. M. 2/c M. M. Hensley 2/c, enlisted October, 1942 just following his graduation from Mooreland highschool, and has participated in 11 invasions. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hensley of Mooreland.
HENSLEY, Venita, Yoeman 1/C Enlisted in the WAVE, March 3, 1942, has been assigned to duty in Hawaiian Islands, following her Washington, D. C., assignment. A graduate of Mooreland highschool, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hensley, Mooreland.

HIGHLEY, Earl, Sgt. Second son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Highley, was given a discharge from the army at Camp Chaffee, Ark., in June, following his return to the States after serving in the European theater with the 45th Division, enlisting in September, 1940. He holds the ETO ribbon, six battle stars, Purple Heart.
HIGHLEY, Oran, Lt. 29 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Highley, was liberated April 29, 1945 from a two year imprisonment in a German prison camp, returned to the States June 4, and arrived home June 11, for a 60 day leave before reporting August 15, to Miami, Fla., for further assignment. At the time of his enlistment, he was band instructor in the Walsh, Colo., schools.
HIGHLEY, Clarence J.,Ph.M. 1/c (T) Twenty one years of age and youngest of the four Highley boys, enlisted in the Navy in November, 1942, and has served in a hospital in the Southwest Pacific for 21 months. He expects to be returned soon to the States.
HIGHLEY, Wilber, BM 1/c Enlisted in October, 1940, assigned to the USS Enterprise, and was a short distance from Pearl Harbor the night of the sneak Jap attack, December 7, 1941. After 27 months aboard his carrier, he was assigned to shore patrol duty in the Hawaiian Islands. His wife lives in San Francisco, Calif. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Highley live in Woodward.
HISEY, Glen D., A/S Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hisey, 972 Kas., inducted in Navy, Apr. 8, 1945, and after two months at San Diego, transferred to fireman's school on June 1. Mrs. Hisey and 18 months old daughter, Linda Ann, live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crowl, north of Woodward. Hisey is a former driver at fire station.
HOLDER, Ivan A., Pfc. prior to entering service Aug. 1944, was teacher in Richmond schools, left the States Nov. 15, 1944, and is an aircraft repairman, stationed in Philippines; awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon,Philippines Liberation badge, and one battle star. He wife, the former Barbara Hedges and son live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hedges, Vici.
HOLMES, Ronald C., Pfc. Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Holmes, Woodward. Eighteen months overseas with the 693rd Hq. Btry. F. A. Bn. Now stationed at Salzburg, Germany. His wife, Pauline, lives at Dumas, Texas.
HOLLOWAY, Wm. M., Pfc. Now in Munich, Germany, serving with the 194th F. A. battalion, 7th army, since going overseas Dec. 22, 1944, following 17 weeks of training at Fort Sill. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Holloway of Mooreland, and is 19 years of age.
HOOPER, Marvin L., Lt. Jg. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hopper, Mutual, enlisted and served a year in Woodward National Guard. Inducted into service Oct. 1942, and is now stationed at March Field, Riverside, Calif., for more advanced training, following his commission several months ago.
HORNER, Bill, Sgt. Son of Mrs. A. J. Horner, Woodward, enlisted in Woodward National Guard Unit, and went overseas with the 45th Division. Awarded purple Heart. Is to fly back to the States for a furlough and visit with the home folks.
HUFFMAN, Paul Chief pharmacist mate, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Huffman, Mutual, enlisted Fepuary 10, 1942, served 23 months in the Pacific with th 2nd Marine Div. presidential citation for Tarawa, Siapan, Tinian service. Returned to States in October, and now attending naval school, Albany, N. Y.
HUNTER, W. R., Major In service since August, 1942. Received Captaincy at Camp Horne, Calif., with Medics. Has 18 months in New Guinea, and Dutch East Indies. Mrs Hunter and son, W. R. Jr., reside on So. 18th Street. In Woodward, Dr. Hunter practiced the dental profession, and operated the Rexall Drug store.

INNIS, James N., Cpl. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Innis of Fort Supply, served with 783rd Bomb Sqd., 465th Bomb Grp., 15th air forces in Italy. His wife, Jeralyn and their two sons Lary Dean and James Allan, live in Fort Supply.

JAMES, John L., Lt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. James, Vici, has been in service since 1943, is now in the Pacifictheater with the 311th T.C.S.
JOHNSON, Jesse L., Jr. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Johnson of Quinlan, is a pharmacists mate, second class at a Base hospital in New Guinea. In the Pacific19 months. Entered service in May, 1942.
JOHNSON, Wendell Spiva, Pfc. Now with two years service, identified with Guard Detachment, POW Camp, Camp Lee, Va. Spiva operated Johnson Shoe Shop, with his brother Barney, prior to entering the service. Barney is now owner of Johnson Saddlery where he is holding a job open for his brother's return.
JOHNSON, William F. "Bill" Son of Mr. and Mrs. Hez Johnson, enlisted in the Navy Fepuary, 1944. Following his boot training was assigned to a V-12 Diesel school, following which he was assigned to duty in the Pacific.
JOHNSTON, Donald L., Capt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Johnston, Fargo, Commander of amphibious Tank company. Made landings on Leyte and Okinawa and has a years service in the Southwest Pacific. Wears the Purple Heart. His wife and children Donna Kay and Donald Scott live in Shattuck. In civil life assistant manager of Johnston Implement company.
JONES, Homer W., C. P. M. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Jones, Mutual, and a graduate of Mutual highschool and Oklahoma University. Wears Tarawa and Siapan combat stars.
JUDY, Hubert S., Lt. Col. Son of Mr and Mrs. H. S. Judy, 1404 5th street, is congratulated by Col. Gerry L. Mason, commanding officer of a B-24 liberation group in England, May 4, 1944, after receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement in aerial combat. Lt. Col. Judy now deputy to Gen. Robert Harper, head of the air division of the Control Council with headquarters in Berlin, was recently awarded a second Distinguished Flying Cross and cited for meritorious achievement and valor. The French government in recognition of his ability, presented him with their government's honor medal, The Crouix De Geurrer. He also holds Air Medals and several clusters, the purple Heard and four battle stars. In service five years, he has been overseas 20 months. His wife Mrs. May Judy, Washington D. C. is a blue print technician for the government.
