VALENTINE, Frances L., Sgt.
In Service since Jan. 1943, went overseas in Sept. 1944, and now stationed on New Guinea with 4th photo Charting. At time of induction was employed in Triple office. His wife the former Lyndel Drake lives at 819 13th street. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Valentine live in Woodward.

VALENTINE, Paul, Sgt.
Sons of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Valentine of Sharon, met in New Guinea Dec. 18, 1944, for three day visit. Paul, 24, with air corps signal service, Francis, 26, with photo charting squadron in air corps. Latter's wife, Lindelle Drake, makes home in Woodward.

WARD, Everett R., Pfc.
19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Ward, 816 15th St., entered service in Oct, 1944, is a tail gunner on a B-29, and now stationed at Lincoln, Nep., AAF, for assignment. Was outstanding athlete, and participated in boxing matches at the airbase, and later in the Lions sponsored matches here.

WARDEN, Daryl Keith, Lt. USNR
Son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Warden, Woodward, enlisted in the Navy in November, 1939, and was flying missions in South Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and South America and Panama Canal zones. In December, 1944 he was transferred to the Pacific and is now serving as navigator on a transport plane out of the Mariana Islands. His wife lives in Alameda, Calif.

WASHMON, James D., Pvt.
Fort Supply, is with Casual Co. 15 has been in the service 3 years. Word April '44 from Manila, p. I. told an interesting story to his mother Mrs. Mina Washmon. Before induction Jim was related to the U. S. Army engineers crew on the Fort Supply Job.

WATSON, Ancil T., Pvt.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Watson of Richmond, was inducted into service June 9, 1944 and after nine months training at Fort Bliss, Texas, was transferred to anit-aircraft division, and now at the Burbank, Calif. AAF. At time of his induction was employed with the Santa Fe Railraod Co. at Waynoka, where his wife and small daughter live.

WEBER, Oliver Fred
Three years superintendent of Hunter schools, resigned to enter the service, leaving Woodward May 15 for boot training at San Diego, Calif. His wife the former Esther Mae Williams, is making her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Williams.

WEBER, Robert J., Sgt.
Son of Mrs. John Weber, Sharon, entered the service, March 16, 1942. Served with the Ninth Army in Germany.

WEIHE, Howard L., Lt.
Only son of Mrs. Ella Weihe, enlisted December 2, 1941, commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in July, 9142, and in August 1943 while stationed at an Alaskan base flying cargo planes to the Aleutions, that he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. He was awarded the air medal at the same base. Returning home in the fall of 1944, he has since been stationed at Lawson Field, Ga., as an instructor. He was married November 25, to Mary E. Meadows at Cedartown, Ga., and they reside at Columbus, Ga.

WEST, John Cooper, Ens.
Received his commission June 1, 1944, and concluding several months training in Florida and Washington bases, was assigned to a transport ship for service in the Pacific theater of war. His ship was in the invasion of Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and now serving in that area. Just recently while in Saipan, he visited with Pfc. Brandon Frost. At the time he went into service, Ens. West was associated with the Zenith Gas System as manager, and was President of the local Kiwanis club. His wife, daughter Gayle and son John Cooper live in the West home, 977 9th street.

WILLIAMS, A. V., Jr., S/Sgt.
Enlisted in Sept. 1940, trained and went overseas with the 45th Div.; was in invasion of Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Southern France, and through Germany. Returned to States June 20, expects to be sent to Camp Smaffee, Ark, and home soon.

WILLIAMS, Charles, Pfc.
Son of Commissioner and Mrs. J. Don Williams, in service 4 1/2 years, now in the Pacific theater, serving with the 824th Military police. He has two other brothers in service, Lt. Scott, instructor at Big Springs, Texas, and Pvt. Joe with the 45th Division.

WILLIAMS, Donald E., S/Sgt.
Son of Mrs. Rachel Williams, Woodward and Fort Supply, served 8 months as a gunner of a B-17, with the Eighth air forces, stationed in England, returned to States May 17, 1945, and after 3 years of service, had more than the required points, and was given an honorable discharge. He holds the Air Medal with five clusters, ETO ribbon and two battle stars. His wife and son lived in Hutchinson, Kas., and will make their home there

WILLIAMS, H. F., 1st Lt.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Williams, following his commission was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, as instructor. He left the States, January 12, 1945 for duty with the 914th AAA Gun Battalion in Pacific theater. His wife and son Lucky are living in Seminole for the duration.

WILLIAMS, O. K., Capt.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Williams, Woodward, enlisted in the Woodward National Guard, Sept, 1940, trained at 45th Div., and in June, 1942, transferred out for officers training, taught in Ark., and Ariz. camps; sent to Italy, Aug, '44, assigned to 92nd Div., Fifth Army; wounded in action, received Purple Heart. Wife and daughter live in Los Angeles.

WILLIAMSON, Linn E., S.1/c
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fisher Williamson, Mutual, and 19 years of age. Enlisted February 3, 1944. Was in the invasion of Okinawa.

WINGET, Oren John, P.O. 2/c
Serving with the Seabees in Pacific theater the past two and a half years. His wife, Mrs. Millie Winget lives lives at 1307 First Street, Woodward.

WINGET, Othel, S/Sgt.
Is 33 and son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Winget, 411 Webster. Nearly 3 years with a heavy railroad crew in England and France, 27 months overseas. In working days at home Othel was a railroadman with the Katy and later in the transport business.

WISE, Ernest Loren, Pvt.
Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira O. Wise of Mooreland, is stationed at the Amarillo, Texas, army air base as instrument instructor for B-29 Fortresses.

WITHGOTT, Quincy K., T/3
Inducted Mar 16, 1942, sent to Pacific Oct. 1944, and since stationed on new Guinea in anti-aircraft. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Withgott, North of Woodward, and in civilian life was a member of Santa Fe Rys. const. department.

WRIGHT, Jas. E., Lt.
Son of Mrs. Bertha Wright, a pilot of a C-47 at the Rose Crans Army air field, St. Joseph, Mo. Before his induction Sept. 1944, he had been a civilian instructor for two years. His wife, the former Elizabeth Richardson is living in St. Joseph.

WRIGHT, Wm. E., AOM 2/C
2/c In service three years, AOM. Wright, son of Mrs. Bertha Wright, has been in the Pacific war zone two years, serving aboard his carrier.

WRISTON, Lyman L., Pfc.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Wriston of Cedardale, recently stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., as a member of 462nd Amphibian Truck Co., was awarded the Meritorious Service plaque by Gen. Eisenhower for its exceptional performance during the invasion of the Normandy Beachhead.

YODER, Alvin L., Cpl.
Enlisted July 17, 1942, had basic training at St. Petersburg, Fla., radar schools in Chicago and Tomah, Wis., for radio mechanics. Assigned to 92nd Fighter Con. Eqd. and reassigned to 2nd Air Corps with base in England. Served eight months with 8th Air corps and identified with B-17's,

YOUNG, Mabel, Yoeman 2/c
Daughter of V. A. Young, Mutual, enlisted in the Navy, July, 1943. Reported for duty December 9, 1943. She is a graduate of Mutual highschool.
