Thomas Emmett Alexander was born on Dec. 8, 1936 to Joseph and Lillie (Knott) Alexander of Woodward, Okla. Tom was born in the middle of 12 children along with his twin brother Milton Louis.
Tom passed from this life after a long battle with cancer at the age of 70, at home with his family by his side.
He grew up in several areas around Woodward. He went to grade school in Woodward and attended high school in Deer Creek. While in high school, Tom dated Rose Ella Wellman. Tom and Rose dated off and on for a long time.
Tom joined the Navy in 1955. He served his country for 19 years. While in the Navy Tom married and he had his only son, Thomas Wilson Alexander.
Tom returned to Woodward in 1983 to visit his family. While in Woodward he reunited with his high school sweetheart. Tom and Rose were married on Nov. 23, 1984 in Collierville, Tenn. Knowingly, Tom inherited six girls. Tom worked at Western State Hospital, Kevin's Corner, Sears and other various jobs before he retired. Tom had 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ace, Bill and Bobby Jo, John and twin brother Milton, three sisters, Francis, Betty Jean, Maudie Pearl, two grandsons, Jacob and Joseph Price and two infant, twin great-grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of the home Rose, his son Tom Alexander and his wife Kate of Westcasset, Maine, his daughters Rose Combs and husband Bryan of Woodward, Billie Rutledge and husband Jesse of Turpin, Okla., Sonja Harrison and husband Wally of Woodward, Linda Solis and husband Sergio of Woodward, Ivy Price and husband Greg of Mooreland, Okla., Tammy McDannald and husband Donnie of Vici, Okla., 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters Anna Moss and husband Lee of Clinton, Okla., Bonnie Main and husband Don of Vici, Okla., Mary Underwood and husband Larry of Watonga, Okla., and his very special friend Sandy Murray of Brunswick, Maine and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Tom was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 in the Zwanziger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Tindell officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Zwanziger Funeral Home.
