Local Resident Dies Saturday
Funeral Services are Set For G. Y. Allen
Funeral Services for G. Y. Allen will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Byron Mason's Funeral Home with the Rev. L. L. Bowles, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwwod cemetery.
Mr. Allen died Saturday in Northwest Community hospital, Mooreland, following an illness of one week.
Gustavius Yancy Allen was born July 17, 1874 at Vanceburg, Ky. In 1895 he came to eastern Oklahoma and settled near Fairland, Indian Territory, where he lived until 1918 when he moved to Woodward where he has continued to make his home. On March 6, 1901 he was married to Margaret Ollie Bowers at Fairland. He was a member of the First Methodist church.
Mrs. Allen preceded him in death on July 24, 1938 and one daughter Opal Naomi on Nov. 26, 1912.
Survivors include one son, Orval S. Allen, San Bernadino, Cal., one daughter, Mrs. Robert R. Carpenter, Woodward; three grandchildren and one great grandson; one sister, Mrs. John Weaver, Loma, Colo.
