Funeral services for Della Anthem, 99-year-old former Woodward resident, will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at 2 :30 p.m. at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service.

Della M. Anthem was born Aug. 15, 1907 in Sharon, Okla. to Lester and Amanda (Arnold) Canfield. She shared her early childhood with five sisters and two brothers, all whom preceded her in death.

She married John Anthem on April 26, 1929. He preceded her in death in December of 1949. They moved to Woodward in 1932, where she lived for 73 years. In 2005 she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her daughter Aileen Glendinning.

She worked at the Woodward Memorial Hospital for over 21 years becoming kitchen manager and later assistant to the dietitian. She was active in the Rebekah Lodge and received a lifetime member award, serving as secretary for many of those years, which she thoroughly enjoyed being with her many friends.

Mrs. Anthem died Jan. 7, 2007 in Oklahoma City.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. She loved and enjoyed life surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was known by her warmth and kindness to all who had the pleasure of being in her presence.

Though your smile may be gone from us and your loving hands we cannot touch, we have such wonderful memories of you. Mom, you meant so much to us. Your memory is our keepsake of which we will never part. God holds you now in his keeping, we hold you in our hearts. Heaven is brighter today with the addition of one of God's shining examples.

She was a devoted mother of four daughters, two preceding her in death, Berneita Jean Forrest and infant daughter Norma Lee. Surviving daughters Aileen Glendinning and husband Gene of Oklahoma City, and Pauline Stipp (late husband Elmer) of Wichita, Kan. Cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, Paula McBride and Gene Glendinning of Oklahoma City, Darrell Stipp of Wichita, Kan., and the late Michael Stipp, Lonnie Forrest and Derek Forrest, both of Woodward, Okla., and Amy Lower of Tulsa, Okla.
