George Washington Armer was born Nov. 21, 1927 at All Friends, Ark. to Dewitt and Bessie May (Eoff) Armer. He grew up in Arkansas and then served in the U.S. Army at the close of World War II. Following his discharge, he was married to Delphia Farmer on August 22, 1949 in Fayetville, Ark. In 1952, he again served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following that discharge, George and Delphia resided in Kansas where he worked in construction in the oilfield. That work brought the family to Woodward in 1969, where George worked until retiring in 1989. They continued their home in Woodward.

George enjoyed camping and fishing with his son and working in his yard and on his cars. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and was known as an avid news junkie.

Mr. Armer died Dec. 31, 2007 at his home in Woodward.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark; a brother and a sister.
