Leona M. Austin, 85 year old Woodward resident died at the Woodward Hospital and Health Center, October 19, 2000.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2000 in Gnadenfeld Cemetery under the direction of Zwanziger Funeral Home.
Leona M. Austin, 85-year-old resident of Woodward, died Thursday,October 19, 2000 at the Woodward Hospital and Health Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2000 at Gnadenfeld Cemetery, Tangier, Oklahoma, with Gordon Lawson officiating. Services are under the direction of the Zwanziger Funeral Home. Leona May Burk was born on March 7, 1915, to Charles and Inez Burkat Oklahoma City. In 1933 she graduated from Tangier High School. On September 3, 1932, Leona married Jacob Geiswein at Arnett, Oklahoma. Jacob passed away March 3, 1955. Then on August 12, 1960, she married Leigh D. Austin. Leigh passed away on December 26, 1976. Leona worked as a salesperson for several years. She was a member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Geiswein and his wife Melita, Woodward, and Charles Geiswein, Woodward; one daughter, Betty Bookless, Dalhart, Texas; a brother, Charles Burk, Black Forrest, Colorado; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jacob Geiswein and Leigh D. Austin, one son Jerry Geiswein in 1993 and two sisters.
