George Allen Beverly 72 year old resident of Longdale, and former Woodward resident passed away on Sunday May 31, 2009 in the Woodward Regional Health Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday on June 6, 2009 in the Longdale Elementary School. Cremation services were provided by Billings Funeral Home.

George was born on August 20, 1936 in Bradley, Oklahoma to Floyd "Runt" and Bobby Jean (Winningham) Beverly. George was reared in Bradley and attended the Bradley Public Schools. George served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on April 2, 1962. After being discharged George hitchhiked from California to Oklahoma and found success in obtaining rides if he wore his uniform.

George worked in the oilfield for various companies until his retirement in 2001.

George was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by one son Paul Beverly and wife Crystal of Vici; four daughters, Anita Bogges and husband Lewis of McAlester; Tina Gilreath and husband Billy of Woodward; Sheila Kirkley and husband Martin of Woodward; Michelle Ford and husband Kraig of Great Bend, Kansas; two brothers, Don Beverly and wife Joyce of Lindsey; Pete Beverly and wife Dorothy of Bradley; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nephew Aaron Beverly that lived with George for several years and stepfather Utah Clayton.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Runt Beverly and Bobby Jean Clayton, one brother, Geter Beverly, one son Allen Ray Beverly, nieces Glenda Nunley Rowland and Stormy Beverly.
