Norma Bird, 50-year-old Woodward resident, will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Mary Davis will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service.
Norma Marie Bird was born on March 3, 1956 at Bay City, Mich., to William and Norma Jean (Boag) Bird. She attended school at Bay City and graduated from John Glenn High School in 1975.
In 1980, Norma moved to Woodward and began working in some of the area nursing homes as a housekeeper. After having a stroke in 2004, she was forced to end her career as a housekeeper at the Mooreland Heritage Manor. Norma then entered the Heritage Manor where she lived until her death.
She was an avid collector of all types of bells and owls. Her family was so very special to her, especially her nieces and nephews. Even though she never married or had children of her own, the love she gave and received from her nieces and nephews was so very unique. Her memory will always be cherished. Norma attended St. John's Episcopal Church of Woodward.
Norma died Thursday morning, Sept. 28, 2006 at the Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother David Bird.
Norma is survived by her father William Bird of Auburn, Mich.; her brothers and sisters, Gary Bird of Cadillac, Mich., John Bird and wife Dorothy of Gaylord, Mich., Sharon Briggs of Bay City, Mich., Ron Bird and LuAnn Schlink and husband Bob both of Auburn, Mich., Kim Bates and husband Gary of Woodward, Okla., Michael Bird and wife Carlean of Bay City, Mich., Linda Coyer and husband Roger of Woodward, Terry Bird and wife Peggy and Bonnie Bird both of Auburn, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; special friends, Valarie Schlink and family and Amber Patten.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the St. John's Episcopal Church Youth Group.
