Clara Bowker, 95-year-old Woodward resident, died July 21, 2007 at her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the graveside in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery northeast of Rosston, Okla. The Rev. Ralph Adcock will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service.

Clara Martha Bowker was born on March 19, 1912 in rural Alfalfa County, Okla., to George and Edna (Warren) Secrest. When Clara was a small child the family moved to near Rosston, Okla., where she attended the Readout School through the eighth grade.

On Sept. 14, 1931, Clara was united in marriage to Forney Bruce Bowker in Buffalo, Okla. To this happy union two children were born, Elaine and Donnie. They made their home in Harper County where they farmed. In 1972, they retired from the farm work and moved to Woodward.

Clara worked for a few years at the Fruit of the Loom plant and at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed the duties of being a homemaker and working in her vegetable garden and flower beds, it seemed she could grow about anything she planted.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forney, her daughter Elaine Laughrey, six brothers, Claud, Henry, Raymond, Hartie, Herman and Joseph, four sisters, Elsie, Laura, Bessie and Cora.

She is survived by her son Donnie of Clinton, Okla.; one sister, Alma Eels of Idaho, other relatives and many friends.
