Wilbur "Dean" Bryson, 77-year-old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at the V.A. Center in Clinton. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Blakley officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wilbur Dean Bryson was born Sept. 19, 1928 in Alva, Okla. to Ralph and Bessie (Cottrill) Bryson. Dean was reared in Alva and graduated from Alva High School in 1946. He attended Oklahoma A&M until his third year of college when he enlisted in the United State Army Air Corp. After his honorable discharge, he moved to California where he worked for Chance-Voight and Northup at Edwards Air Force Base in Palmdale, Calif. Dean then went to work at Lockheed Martin, retiring 1990, after 30 years of service. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Lee Rhoades on May 24, 1975 in Reno, Nev. They made their home in Santa Maria, Calif. until 1999 when they moved to Enid. They moved to Woodward in 2003 and have lived here since that time.
Dean enjoyed building planes and flying them. He also enjoyed playing golf and playing the piano.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Bryson of the home; two daughters Tanya Burkhart and husband Dwight; Jackie Adams and husband Joe of Woodward; four grandchildren, Even Burkhart of Alva; Liberty Eller and husband Shane of Woodward; Tyler Grunewald of Woodward; Cori Adams of Woodward; four great grandchildren, Blake, Kasi, Riley, and Abby; one brother Darrel Bryson and wife JoAnn of Oklahoma City; other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
