Kenneth Charmasson, 81-year-old long time Woodward resident, died Monday, Oct 30, 2000, in the Woodward Hospital and Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Fifth Street Church of Christ with John Knox and James Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Kenneth Charmasson was born on Sept. 22, 1919, in Woodward, Okla., to Eli and Clara (Williams) Charmasson. He was reared in Woodward and attended the Happy Valley Country School southwest of Woodward.

Kenneth started working for Adams Grocery in Woodward as a butcher in the early 1930s. Kenneth was married to Verta Marie Covalt on Nov. 11,1943, in Woodward, Okla. To this union three children were born, Carol Ann, Ron, and Rod.

They made their home in Woodward and continued living there until they moved to the farm in 1955. In 1947, Kenneth went to work for Woodward Packing as a butcher until 1960, when he went into business for himself at Charmasson Processing. Kenneth continued working until his death. Kenneth was a member of the Fifth Street Church of Christ. He served as an elder for a number of years. He loved his work, his horses and coyote hunting.

He is survived by his wife Verta of the home; one daughter, Carol Ann Baird and husband John; two sons Ron Charmasson and wife Linda; Rod Charmasson and wife Jessica, all of Woodward; four grandchildren, Destry Baird and wife Terri; Dustie Shryock and husband Brad; Chad Charmasson and Cody Charmasson; seven great-grandchildren; his twin brother Kenton Charmasson and wife Leona of Woodward; and one sister, Hazel Gooding of Choctaw; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.
