Kenton Charmasson, 87-year-old rural Woodward resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 at his home southwest of Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 in the Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Junior Zollinger and the Reverend Curtis Torrance officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Kenton Charmasson was born Sept. 22, 1919 in Woodward, Okla.; he was the son of Eli and Clara (Williams) Charmasson. Kenton went through the 8th grade at Happy Valley School southwest of Woodward. On Dec. 1, 1943, he was united in marriage to Leona Davis at Woodward. They made their home southwest of Woodward. They raised three children, Melvin Leon, Clara Elaine and Larry Wayne.
Kenton was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Fargo and was a long time member of the Woodward Rifle and Gun Club and the Northwest Cattleman Association.
He was a farmer and rancher and jack of all trades. Kenton worked many years in the meat processing business and in later years he worked for Andy Anderson Fencing Company. In his later years he enjoyed working with wood, making many items for his family and friends.
Kenton is survived by one sister, Hazel Gooding of Choctaw; one daughter, Elaine Schickedanz and husband Glen of Piedmont; one son Larry Charmasson of Woodward; two grandchildren Russell Schickedanz and wife Sherlie of Boerne, Texas; Tanya Roberts and husband Michael of Stillwater; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Katie Schickedanz of Boerne, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leona on October 30, 2005, one son Melvin Leon Charmasson and his four brothers, Frankie, Melvin, Lorrine and his twin brother, Kenneth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Plains Youth Shelter with the funeral home
