Funeral services were held for Katherine Clearwater on Sunday, October 14, 2000, at 2:oo p.m. at the First Christian Church in Arnett, Okla. The Reverend Richard Royal, pastor of First Christian Church of Arnett, officiated. Interment was held in the DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Okla., under the direction of Arnett Shaw Funeral Home
Katherine Clearwater was born March 19, 1918, to John William and Elenor Cooprider at their home in Peek Community in Ellis County, Okla. She departed this life on October 12, 2000, at the age of 82 years 6 months 23 days.
She attended grade school at Lone Bell School and graduated from Harnett High School in 1937.
Katherine married Ivan Clearwater on August 25, 1940, In Woodward, Okla.
To this union six children were born - Bernice, Donald, Lola, Eulena, Larry, and James. They lived and farmed south of Cheyenne, Okla., for the first several years of their married life. In 1944 they moved to the Clearwater family farm three and one half miles east of Arnett. In 1974, they retired from farming and moved into Arnett.
Katherine loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and quilting. She was a memberof Rebekah Lodge. Katherine was baptized at an early age and attended the First Christian Church of Arnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan in 1994; her son Donald in 1989; two sisters, Artilla Roberts and Betty Sutton; and by three brothers, Jasper, John, and Wilford Cooprider.
Katherine leaves many loved ones to mourn her passing - her daughter, Bernice, and her husband, Omar McKerrow of Kansas City, Kans., and their three sons, Gary, Mark, and Jeff; her daughter, Eulena, and her husband, Jim Howe of Tulsa, Okla., and their children, David and Amanda; her daughter, Lola Maxfield of Arnett, Okla., and her children Sarah, Katie, and Thad; her son, Larry Clearwater of Arnett, Okla, and his children, Keith, Krystal, and Tammy; her son, Jimmy Clearwater of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Townsend of San Diego, Calif., Billie McDowell of Woodward, Okla., Alice Spencer of Chico, Calif, and Helen Cooprider of Arnett, Okla; one brother, David Cooprider of Cheyenne, Okla; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors.
