Jack J. Condren, son of Frank and Ellen (Thompson) Condren, was born Aug. 16, 1928 at Dewar, Okla. He died early Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas. He was 78 years of age, one month and two days.

Jack began his elementary school years at Henryetta. Later he moved to Oklahoma City with his family where he attended high school. He was united in marriage to Penny Leist, June 29, 1948 at Wheeler, Texas. They made their first home in Oklahoma City and later moved to California where he worked as a truck driver for a ready-mix plant. He was proud that he hauled the first load of concrete when Disneyland was being constructed. He also had his photo taken with Walt Disney. Jack and Penny returned to Oklahoma City where he attended and graduated from barber college in 1960. They moved to Texhoma where he worked as a barber. He also barbered in Woodward and later at Taloga where they moved in the mid-1980's and have lived since.

He was a member of the Taloga Christian Church where he served on the church board and also served as a deacon. Jack enjoyed fishing and liked playing the bass guitar in the church band. He was an active member of the Woodward Moose Lodge #452.

He is survived by his wife Penny of the home in Taloga; two daughters: Joan Crites and husband Barry of Amarillo, Texas and Dedra Tate and husband Terry of Seiling; one son: SFC Mark Condren and wife Gina of Greenwood, Ark.; six grandchildren: Chris Seal, Casey Seal and wife Kacey, Sammie Jo Seal, Brandon Jones and wife Rachael, Brittney Eiseman and Jack Taylor Condren; two great-grandchildren: Kyler Seal and Josie Jones; one sister: Norma Pritchard of Oklahoma City and he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Jack Ray Condren, one grandson: Jerry Aldridge, two sisters: Hazel Crain and Jean Ellen Moore and one brother: Sonny Condren.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at the Taloga Christian Church with Pastors Allan Patterson and Bob Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home in Seiling.
